WESTERN JR C CHAMPIONS
A Season To Remember The Walkerton Hawks went further than they have since 1981-82. The Hawks defeated the Kincardine Bulldogs 3-2 in OT to take the Western Jr C Championship 4 games to 2. The Walkerton Hawks played what felt like a Game 7 on Wednesday, but in reality it was only Game 6. The Hawks took a do or die attitude into the game and came out victorious. Next up for the Hawks was the Alliston Hornets of the GBMOHL. The Hawks were in unfamiliar territory, now in the All Ontario Quarter Finals. Many scouts and fans weren't giving the Hawks a chance. The Hawks battled hard throughout the series and ended up falling 4 games to 2. The Hawks lost game 6 4-3 in OT at home to end their amazing season. Hawks Add D Coach With Big D Experience The Walkerton Hawks are pleased to announce the hiring of former Dallas Stars Defenceman and Durham native Jeff MacMillan. The 29 year old Durham native played for nine different teams during a nine-year professional career which included for games with the National Hockey League's Dallas Stars. Jeff will be coaching the defence and hopes to teach them the finer points of the game. Jeff MacMillan

Hawks Take Home Hardware The Annual End of Season Awards Banquet may have been cancelled, but that didn't stop the Walkerton Hawks from bringing home some hardware. For the 2nd straight season the Western Jr C MVP came from the Hawks, last season Todd Cooper won, this year, Curtis Johnston. CuJo was named the Western Jr C Player of the Month for January and than takes home League MVP. The Hawks weren't done there. For yet another 2nd straight season the Best Defenceman award went to a Hawk, and again it went to Derek Skinner. That is back to back Best D awards for Skinner. Impressive you say. Not yet, there was 1 more award the Hawks took home and that was Rookie of the Year, going to the 10th leading scorer in the Western Jr C, Tyler Kuntz. Along with the major hardware, the Hawks also had 2 1st Team All Stars in Skinner and Johnston. The Hawks also captured the Western Jr C Championship and fell short of the Clarence 'Tubby' Schmalz for Ontario Jr C. Congratulations Hawks winners.
